HAYNES divided-back postcard showing the original Fishing Bridge, built in 1902 by Hiram Chittenden during construction of the first east entrance road. The bridge was rebuilt in 1919, and the present, 2-lane Fishing Bridge was built in 1936-1937. Fishing from the bridge was banned at the end of the 1973 season to protect this important cutthroat trout spawning area. Back of card says: Fishing Bridge at Yellowstone Lake Outlet spans the Yellowstone River near the Fishing Bridge Free Automobile Camp. This is a favorite fishing place for thousands of tourists who angle for the prized Cutthroat trout. |
