NATURAL FIRE AREA South Entrance Road You are entering an area where lightning caused fires have been allowed to burn. Your travel through the fire area is an interesting opportunity to observe Yellowstone in transition. Old forests and meadows have burned and will rejuvinate [sic], enhancing wildlife habitat. For Your Safety * Use your headlights. * Caution for reduced visibility due to smoke, fog, and inversions. * Drive within the posted speed limits and proceed with caution. * Do not walk into the burn area. * Remain with your vehicle, stop only in pullouts and parking areas. * Be alert for hazards such as fallen or falling trees on the road and crews and equipment working along the roadside. * Lewis Lake and the Lewis River from the south end of the Talus Slope northbound are temporarily closed to fishing. TRAVEL HOURS WILL DEPEND ON SAFETY, FIRE BEHAVIOR, AND BURNING CONDITIONS. BE AWARE THAT AREA TRAILS ARE CLOSED, AND THE ROAD MAY BE CLOSED AT ANY TIME. THERE IS NO GUARANTEE OF YOUR SAFETY.
