This graceful twist in Trout Creek, just as it enters Hayden Valley, resembles the ancient Chinese yin-yang symbol, later adopted as the trademark of the Northern Pacific Railroad, one of Yellowstone's early promotors.

One of Yellowstone's last beggar bears. This black bear near Dunraven Pass, from a June 1975 photo, may have been in for a handout, a practice prohibited in the park. Such human-bear interaction is detrimental to bears and humans alike.
