The Lake Yellowstone Hotel Photo Pages

(left)  In prewar years, tour buses such as the restored White Motor Company bus pictured here transported visitors throughout the park. Yellowstone now offers  "Historic  Sunset Tours" in replica 1930s-era tour buses that depart  from Lake Hotel and take visitors to Lake Butte each evening in the summer.
(right)  Some feel that the stately ionic columns and other neoclassical touches of the 1904-1905 remodeling make Lake Hotel seem out of place in a natural setting such as Yellowstone. But others think it is a gleaming jewel by the lake. Yellowstone has never been a stranger to controversy in the past and there is every indication that the tradition of controversy will continue as long as there is a Yellowstone.
