Franklin was the fourth child of Rev. Franklin Guy and Gertrude Ethel Wagoner Markley. He was
born Feb. 27, 1926 in Hamilton, Ohio and died on Aug. 5, 2014 in Canton, Ohio. He had 3 sisters:
Helen Ruth, Naomi Lois, and Cleo Twylight. He married Gladys May Henry on Oct. 19, 1946.
They had 3 children.

Being a PK (preacher's kid), Franklin moved many times while growing up in Ohio.The first move
was to Norwood. While living there all three of Franklin's sisters were married and made their
homes in the Dayton/Cincinnati area. After leaving his sisters behind, Franklin and his parents also
lived in Marion, Toledo, Akron, Niles, and Canton, where Rev. and Mrs. Markley's last child left  
the nest. Franklin attended McKinley High School in Canton. In 1943 he joined the army.
